VP of Engineering

Our Client is a Chicago-based company which developed and brings to the market an innovative, cloud-based staffing and recruiting software platform. Their goal is to revolutionize the staffing and recruiting industry by helping companies replace their outdated, segmented and not-mobile systems and use a modern and integrated solution based on the Salesforce Platform instead. 


With a growth rate of 2600% in three years, they continue to disrupt software for the global staffing and recruiting industry.  Our mission is simple, to become the industry standard.


To support our growth, we’re looking for an experienced and talented VP of Technology to help us take our platform to the next level.


As the VP, Technology you’ll be working closely with and reporting to our President & Founder to help shape our architecture, our engineering processes and help to build a massively talented engineering team. 

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building and scaling successful technology teams. We need someone with proven technical leadership skills and a solid understanding of what it takes to design and deliver scalable, distributed, cloud based systems in a highly available manner. 

Key Responsibilities 


Building a world class engineering team – We are just at the beginning of our journey and will be looking to significantly invest in engineering talent going forwards. Helping to build a truly great team will be a hugely important part of what you do. 

Continuing to evolve our development process – We use Scrum, we like it and we believe it aligns with our delivery culture. However, we also understand that our processes aren’t perfect and need to evolve as we grow. We’re looking for someone who’s delivered in complex engineering environments across multiple teams and geos.

Leading product development – This is the heart and soul of everything we do.  We’ve built a broad and comprehensive platform that powers mid to enterprise staffing & recruitment firms. We are focused on innovation and pushing the envelope.

Obsessing over quality & performance – You should obsess over the quality of what the team delivers. Whether that be the quality and maintainability of our code or making sure we identify and squash every bug out there. 


Partner and vendor management – We have a strategic global partnership with Accenture to accelerate our product development and assist with client delivery.  You should have experience working with SI’s and understand how they interweave into a product companies operation.


  • Strong software engineering background, ideally in scalable distributed applications
  • Experience building, running and leading high performing, autonomous engineering teams in complex environments
  • Experience in architecting distributed systems on a public cloud platform, specifically Salesforce. Ideally, you’ll have experience designing a services platform on AWS and have a deep understanding of Heroku
  • Worked within a DevOps organization. Our developers are responsible for the operational health of the services they develop. We believe this fosters a great culture and are looking for someone who knows how to get the best from this
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, whether to the engineering team, to business stakeholders or to our leadership team
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high growth, technology focused organization
  • Proven experience of creating a forward-thinking technology culture.
  • You have a fundamental understanding of the principles of Agile and lean development
